About This Position
Position Summary: The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, team leadership, and guest experience at a fine dining level. This role is responsible for driving service excellence, developing and coaching the FOH team, managing day-to-day operations, and stepping in as the leader on duty in the absence of the General Manager. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional with strong operational knowledge, a passion for people development, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Key Responsibilities: Operations & Service: - Lead and manage daily FOH operations to ensure a consistent, elevated guest experience - Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) during assigned shifts, maintaining full accountability for service, staff, and guest satisfaction - Oversee floor operations during service, actively supporting the team and resolving guest concerns in real time - Ensure all service standards, steps of service, and brand expectations are upheld at every shift - Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate menu updates, reservations, special events, and team priorities - Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of all guest-facing areas Team Leadership & Development: - Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding FOH team members - Train, coach, and develop hourly staff to meet and exceed service and performance standards - Conduct performance conversations, provide ongoing feedback, and support disciplinary processes in partnership with HR and the GM - Build a positive, inclusive team culture aligned with the Restaurant Group's core values - Create and manage weekly FOH schedules in compliance with labor targets and business needs Financial & Administrative: - Assist in managing labor costs, scheduling efficiency, and daily sales reporting - Oversee cash handling procedures, POS accuracy, and end-of-day reconciliation - Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, and support cost control initiatives - Review and respond to guest feedback platforms (Yelp, Google, OpenTable) in coordination with the GM - Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including labor laws, health codes, and liquor licensing
Requirements
- Qualifications:
- - Minimum 3-5 years of progressive restaurant management experience, with at least 2 years in an upscale or fine dining environment
- - Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing service team
- - Strong knowledge of fine dining service standards, beverage programs, and guest experience expectations
- - Experience with scheduling, labor management, and basic financial reporting
- - Proficiency with POS systems and reservation platforms
- - Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- - Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Physical Requirements:
- - Must be able to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment
